Embossing cylinders repairing represents a technologically sophisticated process that allows for extending the lifetime of cylinders being already used and/or brings them back to production thus reducing purchase expenses of our customers for new expensive parts.
The microscopic relief of the embossing surface, difficulties in determining the defects of such a surface, the hardness of this surface of 56 to 60 HRC – these are the factors that complicate the process of repairing however “Darsail” succeeded in resolving all of these issues (in 2009).
During repairing of the embossing surface of a cylinder its original diameter is always reduced however this change is insignificant insomuch that it doesn’t have almost any effect on the cut length of the embossed material. In any case repairing can be only done upon agreement of the technical details with a customer.

In addition to general embossing elements, embossing cylinders usually include engraved monograms or macro-patterns and determine the cut length of the embossed material. Under specific conditions and requirements such cylinders are subject to repairing without any limitations.
Pressure rollers can be repaired in 99% of cases.
In some cases it is possible to repair embossing rollers up to 10 times or more.
The cost of embossing roller repairing is about 65% of the cost of a new roller.
The lifetime of a repaired roller is as long as the lifetime of a new roller (this is only stated for rollers from “Darsail”).
“Darsail” usually repairs embossing cylinders of its own production however it can repair embossing rollers of other manufacturers as well, provided that technical, design and other requirements match the process flow of our company.
“Darsail” DOES NOT repair rollers manufactured by Boegli-Gravures S.A. We can only use such rollers as blanks for manufacturing embossing based on the Darsail technology .
